Interning at Cooper Green provides work experience in a public health setting and enables students to acquire skills and knowledge that can be applied in their future careers. Students benefit from interacting with experts in their areas of study while contributing valuable assistance to Cooper Green in serving our patients.

Responsibilities

Cooper Green internships are part-time, on-site positions. Interns will shadow colleagues and leaders within their assigned department and in related areas. They perform clerical duties, develop technical skills related to health care, and complete other tasks as assigned by their leaders. Interns may be required to lift up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • At least one letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor
  • Strong communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized

Students should email a letter of interest to CooperGreenHR@uabmc.edu and attach the items listed below as a complete package. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Prior to starting the internship, candidates selected must successfully complete all required administrative paperwork and pre-employment screenings, including a background check, drug test, and TB blood test. Candidates are also required to attend an orientation session.
